A member of the infamous "Billionaire Boys Club" - Reza Eslaminia – is wanted by law enforcement in connection with a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred last year. The "Billionaire Boys Club" was the name given to a group of young men convicted in the 1980s of murdering Eslaminia's father in a failed kidnapping and extortion plot. Eslaminia always maintained that he was innocent, and his conviction was overturned as the result of trial error.
Eslaminia is now wanted in connection with the fatal accident. According to reports, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office has issued a warrant for his arrest after he disappeared while the incident was still under investigation. Eslaminia was allegedly driving a cab that ran a red light in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. The cab hit another car that then slammed into a pedestrian. The pedestrian subsequently died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in the accident.
If you or a loved on has been injured in any type of personal injury accident, it is critical that you consult with an experienced San Francisco personal injury attorney right away. Having a skilled attorney representing your interests from the start helps ensure that you obtain the compensation you deserve.
Often, criminal proceedings and civil proceedings may occur out of the same incident, especially where an accident involves a fatality or where alcohol or drugs may be involved. Here sources close to the case note that the criminal case has stalled because investigators reportedly didn't take enough measurements to determine the cab's speed, nor tested Eslaminia for drugs or alcohol. With Eslaminia now missing, it is unclear when the criminal portion of the case will move forward.
However, because civil matters are distinct from criminal cases, it may be possible to proceed with a personal injury claim.
